Once in awhile we find ourselves in a position when there is no extra money coming in but we need extra money to meet some unexpected expenses. We’ve all been there. Finding money is easier than you think, with these tips:
Stop Spending! When money is tight, it’s safe to say it’s time for a temporary spending freeze on non-essentials like take-out food, entertainment and clothing. Stop eating out, prepare your own coffee and food, don’t go out to movies or buy clothes.
Shop Smart. If you do have to buy something, make sure you are getting the best possible deal. Buy second hand where-ever possible it’s always cheaper.
Shop Around. Shopping around also applies to your monthly bills, you could save hundreds of dollars by using a lower cost service provider for your cell phone, gas, electricity, internet, cable or TV. All you have to do is look for the lowest rates. The difference is costs are significant enough that you could save your yourself a lot of money right away, but for years to come.
Reduce. Take a hard look at your monthly expenses. What can you cut? Do you really need all those TV channels? Do you need a home phone? Do you need to eat junk food every night? Do you need that big car payment or second vehicle? Do you really need to go to the hair salon this month? See where you can shave some money off your expenses.
Sell. Sell. Sell. There’s cash in those closets! It’s time to purge and find things you can resell. We found great success using auction groups on Facebook to sell our used items, fast. For some reason, auctions make people want to buy things even when they are out of season.
